how so? It's a strange thing to say.
Hillary is not only extremely out of line with the political mood that has put the Democrats back into the game, I get the sense that many, many Americans simply don't like her. She represents the Democratic Leadership Council political perspective that has contributed to significantly alienating the Dems from their traditional base and helped to make them a party w/ no spine and no vision.
Who knows what will happen in the political landscape these next two years, and what Hillary’s political handlers will be able to pull off, but I predict that if she is chosen as the next nominee for the '08 presidential bid, we can look for a repeat of the 100% "red state" South and another four years with a Republican in the White House.
The real way to get a non-White male into the White House is not to tokenize people simply because of their race or gender--it's to build a genuinely multiracial, feminist, and pro-working class party that has a powerful vision and a solid base.
I sincerely hope the Dems can do that. Until they do, I'll continue voting third-party.
In struggle,
