Register 100,000 New Voters In NYC For Barack

DL21C Annual Summer Bash: Barack Won The Straw Poll

http://my.barackobama.com

New York City is five boroughs: Brooklyn, where Barack is strongest, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, and Staten Island. There are neighborhoods in each borough. There should be an Obama organization in each neighborhood, many already do. And there should be a borough level organization where maybe one rep from each neighborhood group shows up once a month, once every two months, maybe once a quater. Or once a quarter now, once every two months, and then once a month as we move closer to the date. Every weekend has to be action for every neighborhood group. The action is to register new voters. But the process should be very well organized. Progress has to be measured. Maybe we should reward the neighborhoods that register the most voters. The rewards do not have to be fancy. It could be like, the icecream is on me.

We intend to deliver New York City to Barack on February 5. Yes, Staten Island is fair game.

We have to figure out a way to do as much of our coordination work online as possible. People are busy. Meeting time has to be high value. If you waste people's time, they stop coming. They start making excuses. Homework is online, action is offline. The number one action is voter registration. Every neighborhood group has to do it every weekend for a few hours. Create your event and put it at MyBO. If you build it, they will come.

This was King Arthur's primary emphasis at the meeting that launched the group Manhattan For Obama. Register voters.

The power rests with the individual volunteer. The rest of the organization is support to the individual volunteer. What can you do?

Go to Vistaprint and design your own Barack Obama business card. Make sure it has the Barack website as its most prominent element: http://www.barackobama.com Order 250 of them for free, you can order a few thousand for very little money. And you change the subway culture. Talk to people. Hi, have you heard of Barack Obama? Do you like him? Why? Why not? Have you been to any of your local Obama events? Why? Why not? The goal is to send as many people as possible to the site. Go knock doors in your neighborhood. Follow the same simple script. Get to know people. Once you have someone signed up at the site, they are in. We have to grow like amoeba, from 2 to 4 to 8 to 16, if you get the idea.

Do events. You don't need marching orders from anyone, not from your neighborhood group, not from Ray Riviera, not from Chicago. If you and two other Obama people are going out for coffee, that is an event, put it out at MyBO: http://my.barackobama.com

If you build it, they will come.

We have to build the infrastructure now, the intensity will go up as we head towards Christmas and beyond. The latecomers will come in throngs. We have to be ready for them.

We have to register at least 100,000 new voters for Barack. That is the least we can do. We should try and do more than that. But 100,000 is the absolute minimum.

Do events, blog events. Be your own media. Photoblog, videoblog. This is your chance to be part of a reality show: your own. Especially when it is so cheap, so free to do. Video hosting is free. I have more than 600 hours of video at Google Video. Go there and do a search on my name. You will get impressed. Dekhte hi rah jaoge.

Engaging Third World Dictators

President Obama should engage all world leaders, and especially all of the Third World dictators, as well the Second World dictators like Putin, only Putin will be gone by then, but he will likely be succeeded by a clone.

The engagement should be at all levels possible. He should encourage people to people exchanges with all nondemocratic countries, he should flood the airwaves with broadcasts in local languages, he should engage all countries in as much trade as possible. And he should meet in person as many world leaders and as often as possible, if only to stare some of them down on their dismal human rights records. It should be the Third World dictators who should look like they are trying their best to not have to bump into President Obama in the corridors of the UN building.

The goal has to be maximum possible engagement with all Third World dictators, especially dictators in Africa. With every engagement the wave of democracy in each such country should rise higher. President Obama will not spread democracy, America will not spread democracy. But there are democracy activists and pro-democracy leaders in every authoritarian country and they need to be provided all possible moral and logistical support, and President Obama's interaction with their thug heads of state to make very explicit as to exactly where it is that President Obama stands on democracy and human rights will be a more powerful symbolism than any that anyone else could offer to those pro-democracy leaders. President Obama has to make it very public that he is aware of their existence, and he is with them in spirit always. President Obama also has to redesign his State Department to add muscle to his personal stare down. President Obama also has to be the inspiration for private sector funds and organizations that will work globally to provide all possible moral and logistical support to the democracy movements around the world.

Democracy comes from inside the human heart. Freedom rings in every human heart. Democracy does not come from America. It comes from inside, from within. But an American president can help like noone else can. American Senators can help just by giving precise voice like Senator Leahy did for Nepal.

Leahy Amendment Says No Arms To Nepal
Leahy, Lion
Senator Patrick Leahy
Senator Patrick Leahy, Democrat, Vermont
Senator Leahy To US Congress On Nepal

President Obama must talk to North Korea, to Iran, to Cuba, to Venezuela. Cuba and Venezuela are slightly different from North Korea and Iran, sure. But to hope for democracy in a country like North Korea is to engage North Korea like China gets engaged. The goal has to be maximum engagement.

Trying to blow up JFK Airport is the least we could expect from them if Cheney does get his war. ... What worries him instead is an accidental confrontation, like a hothead in the IRGC firing a missile at one of our carriers in the Gulf. What Obama Said On Pakistan

If Bin Laden's precise location can be found, then Obama would get in touch with Musharraf to take Bin Laden out. If Musharraf takes more than three minutes, President Obama would take Bin Laden out unilaterally. That is what he said.

Those are three big steps you are talking about.

One, can Bin Laden's precise location be found? So far that has not happened, and the US has been looking for him for close to a decade, I think. He was being sought way before 9/11. But say the US intelligence agencies do a good job and manage to find the precise location of Bin Laden's whereabouts, then what? Bin Laden is likely in some cave and not in some village or town surrounded by a whole bunch of civilians. So there would be no civilian casualties to an attack from the sky.

Musharraf is no friend of Bin Laden any more than Saddam was. Bin Laden wants Musharraf dead. Musharraf wants Bin Laden dead. That is the kind of relationship they have. Bin Laden has already made three or four attempts on Musharrafs' life, all of which were close calls. The next attempt might be a success, and Musharraf knows that. And Bin Laden knows that.

What that means is Bin Laden is trying his very best to make sure Musharraf can't find out where he is. But if the US were to be able to find out, and if the US would share that information with Musharraf, Musharraf would act, not because he owes something to the US, but because he is a soldier, a fighter with survival instincts. He will readily cooperate with the US to take Bin Laden out. That is what will happen. The US is not going to have to act unilaterally.

That is why Barack Obama said if.

Obama knows Musharraf will cooperate. But if he does not, which presidential candidate in her or his right mind would want the US to stand idly by respecting Pakistan's sovereignty? There will be a missile strike and that particular cave will be turned into rubble.

It is dishonest for Chirs Dodd to suggest Obama suggested invading Pakistan. Obama never said that. In propagating that lie, Dodd is compromising US security by not allowing an honest debate on the number one threat America faces today.

If you understand how autocratic organizations like the Al Qaeda work - they don't hold internal elections - you will understand how fundamentally important it is to take the top guy out. Look at what happened to the Shining Path in Peru after its top guy Gonzalo was captured: it withered away like magic.

The US intelligence agencies have been making a grave mistake in outsourcing the hunt for Bin Laden to Pakistan. Pakistan's intelligence agency, the ISI, described as a state inside a state, is supremely infiltrated by Islamist radicals. That is why when Bill Clinton struck Bin Laden when he was in Afghanistan, Bin Laden had already shifted. Because Bill Clinton made the mistake of first telling Pakistan that he was going to hit Bin Laden because Bin Laden had been located. That information got passed onto Bin Laden. Some top dude in the ISI passed that info to Bin Laden.

Why would you want to repeat that mistake?

That is short term. But in the long term we are looking at a scenario of saying Musharraf has to go, the Saudi king has to go, Mubarak has to go, Gaddafi has to go. Hello democracy.

Bin Laden tries to recruit disenchanted Muslim youth living in the west. Why don't progressive organizations in a place like New York City try to recruit Arabs immigrants locally to try and ignite democracy movements in the Arab countries? Beats me. You might not do it if it is a democracy issue, but will you do it if it is a security issue? Because it is.

Hillary seems to think no Musharraf means the nuclear Pakistan goes down the Islamist radical route. That is wrong thinking. Musharraf has to be pushed out and the democrats in Pakistan have to take over.

Progressives in NYC need to approach the 40,000 Nepalis in the city and say, we want you to have voting rights in this city's elections because you do pay your utility bills. And now teach us and teach the Arab immigrants from those many Arab countries how to ignite nonviolent, grassroots democracy movements in their countries.

Explaining Early State And National Polls

Obama now leads in Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina. Hillary has widened her national lead. How do you explain that?

In the early states Obama leads because the voters in the early states have already gone through their puppy love phase with the Clinton name that sends good vibes from the 1990s. Now they are looking more closely, learning more about the candidates, and in Obama they like what they see.

Nationally a lot of voters are barely starting to pay attention to the race. They are like, did you say the election is on? I did not know. This early? And they hear the Clinton name, and they are like, I like Clinton, sure. I will bet you quite a few of them think Bill Clinton is running again. He has already done his time in detention and how he is back.

This might be hard for the hard core to believe, but that is what is going on. Give them some time. When they learn more about Obama, they are going to fall for him just fine.

It is going to be a Barack Obama-Hillary Clinton ticket.

I expect Barack Obama to take the national lead perhaps in December, even late in December. Barack will have a Christmas gift to take home: a lead in the national polls. Until then it helps to not be in the lead. Then your volunteers and workers and staff are working harder, are more on the edge, are more focused. To go from being number two to number one is also momentum. And momentum is the name of the game.

Barack will sweep. He will win Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada, South Carolina. And he will also sweep all the way to February 5. Midnight of February 5, the Democratic primary will be over.

I hope we wake up on February 6 to the news of a Barack-Hillary ticket.

And in the general election that ticket will sweep the country like Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Good times are here.
