Tibet Is Not The US South Of The Civil War Era

China Focuses on Territorial Issues as It Equates Tibet to U.S. Civil War South New York Times return the boundaries of the modern nation to roughly those of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) at its height. That includes Taiwan, Tibet, the western region of Xinjiang and, by China’s calculation, Tawang. ..... In the age of empires, there were no hard and fast borders
The US civil war was about slavery and the Lincoln people were on the right side of history. China is about repressing Tibet, and the Chinese are on the wrong side of history.

The two sides in the US civil war were at war. And either could have won. Tibet today has no army that is fighting the Chinese army. The Chinese are the only force in town.
:en:3rd Dalai Lama,Image via Wikipedia

The US South wanted to break away from the rest of the US. Tibet is not seeking to be a separate country.

And to expect Obama to sympathize with China on this question is beyond ridiculous. Because Obama is black - he is actually biracial - he is much more likely to empathize with the repressed Tibetans. And he does.
The future is a plural China that is integrated with Taiwan, and is a federal, democratic, multi-party state.

Anthony Weiner has really picked up the cudgels on behalf of the public option, which seems to be the American phrase for the single payer system.

I was glad I showed up for this event on the Upper West Side.

Weiner is also talked of as a potential Mayor candidate, if only because he has run a few times before. Four years are a long time in politics. If I had to guess I would say Weiner will be better off seeking seniority in Congress. He is a good legislator. In the executive branch he is not proven material.

My question to Weiner was, Obama could easily have said we just had the toughest economic crisis in 70 years, we are not doing health care this year, but he did not go that route, he stuck to his promise to work on health care during his first year in office, and that is the reason you and others are getting to talk about health care this year rather than next year, or two or more years from now, do you think the president deserves credit for the fact that you are talking health care today?

"Yes," he said.

Hughes Net: Satellite Internet

Hughes Net Satellite Internet (hughs net) is the leading satellite internet service provider. It delivers high speed broadband across America.

The importance of broadband in this day and age can not be exaggerated. Broadband is as basic as electricity today, for work, for pleasure, for life activities. With the satellite option, the rural urban divide goes out the window. Hughes Net Internet is available anywhere in the continental US. The price is affordable.

Dial up just does not cut it these days. If you don't have broadband speed, you are missing out. On productivity, on pleasure. You need Hughes Internet. Satellite Internet fills in where cable internet is not an option.

HughesNet gives you broadband, and it comes with all the basic services like virus and spam protection, your own email address, a customized homepage.

Hughes Net satellite takes you online when others will not. Getting online knows no geographic boundaries.

"HughesNet uses the latest in satellite Internet technology to deliver an exceptionally fast broadband connection. Typical dial-up connections download at 53 Kbps. A satellite Internet connection from HughesNet downloads at 1.0 to 5.0 Mbps - that's 50x faster than dial-up!"

Yes, Obama

The geographic distribution of surface warming...Image via Wikipedia
(1) Obama did not run for president to fix the biggest economic crisis in 70 years. But he responded well to it. And now we have an economic recovery.
(2) He could easily have used the crisis as an excuse to postpone work on health care. He did not. He is the reason we are talking health care right now. Health care is the domestic version of Mideast peace. Mind you, presidents have been trying to do this for the past half century, this dude just might deliver. This is a highly emotionally charged issue. Chances are that one thing you want is not what everyone else wants and, in a democracy, everyone counts.
(3) His first call as president was to Abbas. This dude is serious about Mideast peace. And he might even deliver. That is like handling the toughest domestic issue, and the toughest global issue. I would give him an A for trying and an A+ for achievement, once we have the fruits.
(4) He won the Nobel Peace Prize for work already done. He has done the political equivalent of curing global warming. The dude has fundamentally changed the global political climate. Yo Americanos, your standing is up in the world, thanks to Obama.
(5) He is on schedule to tackle immigration reform, another emotionally charged issue.

This guy symbolizes a new kind of politics. Governing is different from campaigning, in many ways harder. Can you support the guy in office? You supported him when he ran.

Nobel Talk: Obama Changed The Global Political Climate

the 44th President of the United States...Bara...
Barack Obama, this past year, has done the political equivalent of curing global warming. That is what he got the Nobel Prize for. It has been well deserved. It has been for work already done. His election has rectified 500 years of world history, or at least has put us on the path to that rectification. His style has been is stark contrast to that of Bush. Bush was a major league polarizing agent. Obama has approached the global stage with humility, and a sense of hope and optimism. It is amazing to me how cool he has been while the biggest economic crisis in 70 years smacked him in his face even before he got elected, long before he took office. It has been gutsy of him to not postpone health care reform. He could easily have postponed that work citing the bad economy. But he stuck to it.

Health care reform is a tough one. All presidents for the past half century have tried and failed the effort. This one just might do it.

Staying true to his agenda in the face of the tough economic turn of things I have found rather impressive.

A lot of his supporters have not learned the difference between an election campaign and governing. How do you support a candidate once he is in office? That is different from when your candidate is running for the office? You have to educate yourself on how the political process works. You have to be respectful of what might be possible.

Middle East peace is the global version of health care reform. Those two are the knotty issues. Obama seems to be making headway on both. I am impressed. He is making progress because his approach is different. Remember when he talked of a new kind of politics? When he talked of bringing people together? Guess what, the guy meant it.

Obama And The UIGEA

IOWA CITY, IA - MAY 29: Democratic presidenti...Image by Getty Images via Daylife
In these bad economic times, it is but natural that states look into some alternate venues for funding. Relaxing gambling legislation might be one of those efforts.
Warwick Bartlett, lead partner at Global Betting and Gambling Consultants (GBGC), claimed that it was "not over-optimistic" to expect a major shift in online gambling laws following the election of president Obama.
There is a need to look for revenue for health care. Some of the options are: online sports gambling and online poker.
An increased focus on the benefits of Internet gambling regulation are expected as the Senate Finance Committee considers a proposal introduced on Saturday to use Internet gambling revenue to offset the costs of health care reform.
